How does Solful rank tariffs?

Solful compares common UK tariff types — flat, EV, time-of-use, smart and tracker — against your usage shape and any solar, battery, EV or heat-pump assets. The same modelling engine is used for every customer.

Is the modelling done in the browser?

Accepted Answer

No. Modelling runs on Solful’s backend modelling service. The website shows inputs and results — calculations and ranking are not done in the frontend.

How does Solful make money?

When you ask us to switch you to a recommended tariff, the supplier may pay Solful a standard broker commission. We disclose commission ranges before you sign a Letter of Authority and we do not rank tariffs by commission.

Are savings guaranteed?

No. Estimates are based on the information provided and modelling assumptions. Real bills depend on weather, behaviour and supplier pricing. We use cautious wording like ‘estimated’ and ‘where eligible’ on purpose.

What about solar and battery storage?

We model self-consumption with and without a battery, plus arbitrage potential under different tariff structures, using clear default assumptions you can refine.

What about EV charging?

We assume a typical share of EV charging happens in cheap off-peak windows. You can refine this when you connect real data.

What about heat pumps?

We treat a portion of heat-pump usage as shiftable into cheaper windows where the tariff allows. Outcomes depend on insulation, COP and weather.

Do you offer a business bill check?

Yes. Send us a recent business electricity bill and we’ll review unit rates, standing charges, capacity charges and any embedded broker uplift, and estimate whether a smarter tariff structure could help.

Can you review half-hourly data?

Yes. For half-hourly settled MPANs we can model your real usage shape against eligible smart and time-of-use tariffs, instead of relying on annual kWh alone.

Fixed, time-of-use or smart — which should I pick?

Solful prepares eligible sites for flexibility revenue as markets open up. We won’t pretend to offer full corporate procurement on day one.
